In 2017, the Winter Cycling Congress will take place in one of North America’s most bicycle-friendly cities – at least while there is no snow on the ground. The event will bring together a variety of experts and stakeholders committed to encouraging winter cycling and active mobility and, in so doing, contributing to the year-round vitality of communities.

This edition of the Winter Cycling Congress will be of interest to a wide range of individuals from Canada, the U.S. and Europe, including not only those engaged directly with cycling but also those who engage with it through the realms of urban design, engineering, and tourism. The congress will be a point of convergence for officials from different levels of government as well as professional and technicians responsible for planning, implementation and maintenance of cycling infrastructure. The congress is also for those more broadly interested in active mobility and its many benefits, whether it is from the point of view of public health, quality of life, economics, etc.

Together, they will explore various topics related to winter cycling in city environments and fatbiking as an outdoor activity and tourism draw. They will take a closer look at these issues from the broader context of mobility, urban design, recreation and tourism in northern climates.
