Vélo Québec Événements Team launches its volunteer recruitment campaign>> par Vélo Québec Événements Montréal, March 14th 2006 – Are you energetic and friendly? Join the team of Montréal Bike Fest volunteers between May 28 and June 4, 2006. As usual, the Montréal Bike Fest will feature a broad range of festive activities celebrating cycling and city life, including Un Tour la Nuit, the Metropolitan Challenge, Operation Bike-to-Work and, above all, the Tour de l'Île de Montréal. During this week, cycling activities will take centre stage in Montréal. So join in the fun!
Ensuring the comfort and safety of Fest participants requires almost 3,500 big-hearted volunteers. The volunteers can provide their invaluable assistance on one or several days and can choose the position that interests them most, including:
- Member of the foot patrol team responsible for closing roads, diverting traffic and encouraging the cyclists;
- An all-around volunteer at the rest areas or the start and finish sites;
- A cycling escort who deals with participants’ minor injuries or mechanical problems.
The benefits of being a bicycle volunteer
All our volunteers receive special training for their various positions, along with an event T-shirt, a snack on the morning of the event as well as a lunch. Furthermore, as a reward for their participation, Bike Fest volunteers are eligible to win one of various prizes at a big bash held in their honour. These prizes include a trip for two to Cuba (all-inclusive package), a family package for the Petite Aventure, as well as subscriptions to the magazine Vélo Mag and for the YMCA-Montreal Center!
