Launch of the 2009 Montreal Bike Fest
From May 31 to June 7, it’s time to Cycle for Life!>> par Vélo Québec Événements
Montreal, Tuesday, April 28, 2009 — Joëlle Sévigny, Executive Director of Vélo Québec Événements—with the collaboration of the Fédération des producteurs de lait du Québec and the Jean Coutu Group—is today revealing the schedule of activities for the 2009 Montreal Bike Fest, in the presence of Marina Orsini, event spokesperson.
The Montreal Bike Fest is made up of a variety of cycling events and gatherings for the general public. And this year’s Tour de l’Île, the 25th-anniversary edition, promises to be particularly festive. For this special occasion, Cirque du Soleil will create a magical send-off on Parc Avenue, while Daniel Bélanger will close the festivities with a unique show in Jeanne-Mance Park. Guy Laliberté will serve as patron of honour.
“This edition of the Montreal Bike Fest will be one of a kind, as it will feature all the celebrations surrounding the 25th Tour de l’Île de Montréal. Since more than a million cyclists and 100,000 volunteers have been at the very heart of the festivities over the past 25 years, this will be an opportunity for everyone to celebrate the bicycle city Montreal has become and to Cycle for Life!” said Joëlle Sévigny, Executive Director of Vélo Québec Événements.
Marina Orsini recently said: “As someone who was born and raised in Montreal, it gives me great pleasure to join the Montreal Bike Fest and the Cirque du Soleil in celebrating the 25th Tour de l’Île de Montréal, at what is sure to be the world’s biggest birthday bash! I never imagined that I would have an opportunity to celebrate the 25th year of my career on such a grand scale.”
