Grand Tour Desjardins in Ontario – A first!
For the first time in its history, the prestigious Quebec cycling event, the Grand Tour Desjardins, will take place in Ontario, along the Rideau Heritage Route and through the Thousand Islands region. Between August 6 and August 12, 2011, a caravan of 1,800 bicycle tourists will stop over in the towns of Perth, Belleville and Kingston, with Brockville as the start and finish point of the event. Visitors to the Toronto International Bicycle Show are invited to come and dream about pedalling abroad at the booth of the Vélo Québec, an agency that organizes trips for some 6,000 cyclists annually.
