Vélo Québec signs memorandum of understanding with IMBA Canada>> par Vélo Québec
Montreal, Friday December 14th 2012 - Along with Vélo Québec, IMBA Canada is excited to announce a formal partnership with Québec’s provincial bicycling organization through the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MOU).
Throughout 2013, both organizations will seek to build capacity, improve collective knowledge, leverage resources, and provide a united voice for mountain bikers in Québec through a collaborative provincial partnership. >>>
The MOU comes just one year after Vélo Québec’s alliance with ADSVMQ – Québec’s original mountain bike trail organization.
“IMBA Canada and Vélo Québec share a common goal, to develop high-quality mountain bike trails and support local communities, volunteers and clubs engaged in the activity. The union of our forces cannot be anything but beneficial,” said Lucie Lanteigne, Vélo Québec’s Executive director.
IMBA Canada Executive Director Lora Woolner echoes these sentiments: “As the sport of mountain biking continues to grow, we are no longer fighting for access to trails; in fact opportunities are outpacing capacity and it's becoming increasingly important that we align our strengths with other organizations who are striving to meet the same goals. We are looking forward to working with Vélo Québec in a more formal capacity as a result of this MOU.”
As a first common initiative, the two organizations will introduce a joint membership program for clubs and retailers. Québec-based clubs and dealers will now join or renew through Vélo Québec; but receive benefits from both the provincial and national organizations.
