Announcement of Destination of 2014 Grand Tour Desjardins- Unique Proposal: Honeymoon in Niagara!

Montreal, Thursady, December 19, 2013 – The Grand Tour Desjardins, a veritable bike touring institution in Quebec, brings together an impressive pack of more than 2,000 cyclists, who travel some 600 kilometres in seven days at their own pace. An extensive bicycle tour featuring a different itinerary each year.

This year, the Grand Tour Desjardins embraces the Niagara region. From August 2 to 8, an impressive convoy of some 2,000 cyclists will travel hundreds of kilometers through the municipalities of Hamilton, Simcoe, Welland and Niagara Falls. This unique route, with its gentle hills and rich landscapes, will make for a very pleasurable vacation experience. The pleasure of biking, of course, but also that of clearing your mind as you marvel at the vastness of Lake Erie and enjoy its many white sand beaches. The pleasure also of visiting or revisiting the famous falls, a spectacular force of nature. The pleasure of tasting internationally acclaimed wines produced by the local vineyards. The pleasure of touring an area with a rich history and heritage. In short, there are numerous reasons to fall in love during your stay in Niagara and make it a true honeymoon!

The Grand Tour Desjardins is a turnkey bike touring event, including meals, accommodations (hotel or camping), en-route supervision, mechanical support and baggage transportation.  Participants can also benefit from a tent rental service, including pitching and dismantling, as well as baggage delivery.

The Grand Tour Desjardins is a 100% comfort vacation experience! In addition to professionally designed routes for each edition, participants benefit from a host of services in the Village. Specially organized for the occasion, the Village, which is set up and dismantled at every stage, serves as the campsite, as well as the start and finish point of each route. In the Village, cyclists have access to meals, sanitary facilities, two portable shower units, a first aid station, a sports medicine therapist, a mechanics booth and an Internet room. They can also take advantage of the daily activities offered, such as bicycle touring workshops, cinema and artistic performances at the Bistro du Village, as well as catch up on the latest news in Le Déchaîné, the Grand Tour Desjardins daily newsletter. And to unwind after a full day of pedalling, participants have access to a yoga space and massage therapy area.
