Toronto International Bicycle Show - Velo Québec and the Grand Tour Desjardins in Ontario


Montreal, Tuesday, February 25, 2014 – The Vélo Québec team will be at the Toronto International Bicycle Show, from February 28 to March 2, 2014, in order to present its cycling projects to the Toronto community.

The Grand Tour Desjardins – Special Edition in Ontario in 2014!
The Grand Tour Desjardins, a veritable bike touring institution in Quebec, will bring together an impressive peloton of over 2,000 cyclists for a six-day, 600-kilometre excursion in the Niagara region, from August 2 to 8, 2014!

This extensive bicycle tour features a different itinerary each year.  In 2014, cyclists will visit the regions of Hamilton (the Heart of Ontario), Simcoe (southwest) and Niagara. The course also includes sections of the 1,400-km Waterfront Trail—one of Ontario's signature cycling routes.

Itinerary
Departure/arrival: Hamilton, Ontario
Sunday, August 2, 2014: Participants arrive in  Hamilton
Day 1 - August 3, 2014: Hamilton to Simcoe (89 km to 155 km)
Day 2 - August 4, 2014: Loop around Simcoe (86 km to 178 km)
Day 3 - August 5, 2014: Simcoe to Port Colborne (118 km to 142 km)
Day 4 - August 6, 2014: Port Colborne to Niagara Falls (86 km to 128 km)
Day 5 - August 7, 2014: Loop around Niagara Falls (49 km to 75 km)
Day 6 - August 8, 2014: Niagara Falls to Hamilton (86 km to 134 km)

Visitors to the Toronto International Bicycle Show are invited to come and dream about bike vacations at the booth of Vélo Québec, an agency that organizes trips for some 6,000 cyclists annually. They will discover its extensive program of exclusive trips to over 70 destinations worldwide. In addition, those who visit the booth will be eligible to participate in a draw for a travel package for two for the Grand Tour Desjardins Weekend.
