Vélo Québec requests ban on right turns at red lights
In light of ministère des Transports data published in La Presse indicating that right turns on red lights have caused 657 road accidents since April 2003, Vélo Québec is asking the Minister of Transport, Sam Hamad, to ban this practice. See the press release and brief tabled in November 2002.  

New director general of Vélo Québec Association
This week, our team is pleased to welcome Lucie Lanteigne, who will hold the position of director general of Vélo Québec Association. Ms. Lanteigne previously performed the same duties at Parc linéaire Le P'tit Train du Nord. She succeeds Jean-François Pronovost, who now acts as Vice-President, Development and Public Affairs.

Cross-Canada Trip : congratulations to participants !
Thirty-four cyclists accomplished the feat : 52 days by bike for a total of 5,300 km between Vancouver and Montreal. Congratulations to these marathoners ! In 2011, the second edition of the Cross-Canada trip will kick off on July 1. Register now »»

New cycling paths in Montreal and Quebec City
In Montreal, no more biking on the sidewalk of Christophe-Colomb Avenue ! The new section, under the railway track, links Parc des Carrières and Saint-Grégoire Street. »» In Quebec City, a new segment of the Route verte links Promenade Samuel-De Champlain to Avenue des Hôtels via the Côte Ross, parallel to the railway track. »»

Vélo Québec Éditions proud partner of weekend of challenges !

Year-end biking under the sun !
Discover Boston by bike during Hub on Wheels — the equivalent of the Tour de l'Île de Montréal — during the weekend of September 24 to 26. Wind up the year under the sun in Florida (November 7 to 14), in Cuba (Oriente Circuit, November 13 to 20 or December 19 to 26), also in Costa Rica (December 22 to 29 or until January 5). UCI ProTour coming to Quebec City and Montreal
The Grand prix cycliste de Québec (September 10) and the Grand prix cycliste de Montréal (September 12), new courses on the Circuit ProTour, are bringing the large international cycling family to the Americas. From September 20 to 24, the Agence métropolitaine de transport (AMT) will highlight the eighth edition of In Town Without My Car ! by extending the event all week ! On this occasion, Montrealers are invited to experience active and public transportation for five consecutive days. Live in an active city !
New technical training offered to municipalities

For municipalities looking into rehabilitating or upgrading their public facilities, Vélo Québec Association, through its On the Move in the Community program, is offering technical training on cyclist and pedestrian-friendly infrastructure design. This program will be aimed primarily at professionals and technicians in public works, planning, development and parks and recreation departments. The municipalities already registered this fall : Drummondville, Vaudreuil-Dorion, MRC Collines-des-Outaouais, Baie-Comeau, Sept-Îles, Châteauguay, Victoriaville, Mont-Saint-Hilaire and Trois-Rivières.
