For the 250 participants at the first Canada-wide active transportation conference held on June 3 and 4 in Montreal, the term “active transportation” is undoubtedly no longer a concept, but rather a reality that is being expressed in various ways throughout Canada and abroad. Emphasis must be given to the excellent work done by the forty speakers, panellists and moderators to promote the best Quebec, Canadian and international active transportation practices. The participants, stakeholders in the health, education, environmental and transportation sectors, were also able to take advantage of these two discussion days to contribute to the development of Quebec and Canadian active transportation networks as well as the advancement and improvement of initiatives in this field.
