As part of the Go vélo Montréal Festival, Vélo Québec is proud to present an inspiring conference.

More cycling in France: an industry, jobs and women

The French bicycle industry was set up in the wake of COVID on the basis of a simple observation: to get more people cycling, French players in the bicycle economy need to join forces, in order to promote a common vision and general-interest initiatives, and to be more visible to public authorities. And to count, you have to count yourself, and make yourself known. To this end, the industry launched a mapping of the bicycle ecosystem, which served as the basis for a survey of the number of jobs in the bicycle economy in France.

The survey also provided quantitative and qualitative data on the feminization of the cycling industry. Indeed, the world of cycling is still very male-dominated. A dedicated study has been launched to find out what the current situation is, to understand it and to provide the means and recommendations to take action and make women want to come and work in the bike industry. Because the more women we have in cycling, the more women we'll have on bikes.
