Montréal, Sunday, May 29, 2022 - The Metropolitan challenge today officially kicks off the Go vélo Montréal Festival, A week of cycling and urban activities for all, presented by Les Producteur de lait du Québec, in collaboration with Desjardins. From May 29 to June 5, cyclists are invited to celebrate at a number of popular events, including the Tour la Nuit and Tour de l’Île de Montréal.

Bike to Work Day, Tuesday, May 31 :

In the week of the Montreal Go Bike Festival, and to round off Bike Month in style, Vélo Québec is encouraging the public to opt for bike-to-work. On the occasion of the Bike to work day, Vélo Québec and its partners will be offering tips and advice to inform cyclists and aspiring cyclists about this fast, healthy and accessible form of active transportation. They'll be on hand to answer questions about safety instructions, routes to take, how to complement public transit, and more. Two events:

  • Montreal, at La Fontaine park from 7 a.m. to 10 a.m. for a late-morning 100 % bike ride!
  • Longueuil, starting at 4 p.m., meet at the Place Longueuil to end the day on a high note!

Why not bike?« conference, Thursday, June 2 :

At the Festival Go vélo Montréal, Vélo Québec is proud to welcome Stein van Oosteren, author of the essay Why not ride a bike? and spokesman for the Collectif Vélo Île-de-France. During his talk, he will explain how cycling is the key to the changes needed in our urban environments, which have for too long been designed for and around the car. He will demonstrate that cycling is good for health, morale, children's independence, neighborhood life, the planet, and more. But for cycling to become the preferred transport option in the city of tomorrow, we need to bring it into the public debate, question elected municipal officials, combat preconceived ideas and challenge our lifestyles to meet the challenges of our time.
