Montréal, Monday, September 11, 2023 - Vélo Québec, in collaboration with the Secrétariat à la jeunesse, is today launching the My campus by bike, campaign, which aims to promote the use of bicycles among Quebec students aged 17 to 25 attending CEGEPs and universities. The campaign, which runs until October 11 in a number of Quebec establishments, aims to encourage young people to use bicycles as a means of transport, in a perspective of healthy lifestyle habits and sustainable mobility. It also encourages the development of a cycling culture on campus.
An advertising campaign
Starting today, a poster campaign entitled «Merci de prendre ton vélo» (Thank you for taking your bike) will be deployed on several Quebec campuses, on selected bus shelters, and on social media. In addition to four official campaign posters, a video featuring the voice of actor Rémi-Pierre Paquin will be broadcast. To view the video, click here

« We know that students who choose to cycle to campus do so first and foremost for pleasure, and because it's as practical as it is economical. With this campaign, we wanted to thank them and remind them that their choice has beneficial impacts for society as a whole: less congestion around campus, less pressure on parking spaces, less pollution. By pedaling, our cyclists inspire their peers and set an example for others to follow. For all this, we thank them and look forward to meeting them on our fall tour, as well as answering questions from those who are still hesitating to get on the saddle. »declares Magali Bebronne, program director at Vélo Québec.
A tour
Vélo Québec has also embarked on a tour of Quebec campuses that will run throughout the fall. On the menu: bike rides, mechanical workshops, information booths, welcoming cyclists, etc. To consult the list of events organized by Quebec CEGEPs and universities as part of the campaign My campus by bike, click here
A competition
In parallel with the campaign and tour, A contest is running on social media, as well as on the Vélo Québec website, here.
To win one of the prizes on offer, worth a total of 3,000 $, participants must complete a short survey on their transportation habits. The aim of the survey is to gain a better understanding of the motivations and obstacles to bicycle use among young people.
