Montreal, Sunday, June 5, 2022 - At 4:21 p.m. today, the last cyclists in the Tour de l’Île de Montréal completed their 36-kilometre loop. The event marked the end of the Montreal Go Bike Festival, which returned to its regular spring schedule this year, much to the delight of long-awaited GO cyclists. Smiles and good humour were the order of the day!

This 37e he Tour de l’Île de Montréal was the perfect occasion to celebrate the return of the summer season on two wheels. On an absolutely perfect day, 19,000 cyclists took part in this great cycling classic - without a single start and finish site, but with 3 access points spread out along the route - and celebrated the pleasure of finally getting together and enjoying cycling in the heart of the city..
Tour la Nuit a record edition!
On Friday, June 3, more than 18,000 cyclists turned out at La Fontaine et Maisonneuve Park to start the 23e edition of Tour la Nuit, a unique and magical evening! Lights, colorful outfits and cyclists of all ages were on hand under the stars, ready to light up the Montreal night on a 22 km route of car-free streets. Participants were even treated to a lively passage through the Olympic Stadium!
Défi métropolitain: the season kicks off!
On May 29, 2700 cyclists took part in the Défi métropolitain from Pointe-Calumet, on a beautiful summer Sunday to kick off the Go vélo Montréal Festival events.

The Go vélo Montréal Festival is a week-long celebration of urban living and cycling as a way of life. Each year, it launches ideas and stimulates exciting reflections on the city and the place of the bicycle within it.
»Conference Why not ride a bike?
On Thursday, June 2, as part of the Go vélo Montréal Festival, Vélo Québec welcomed Stein van Oosteren, author of the essay Why not ride a bike? and spokesperson for the Collectif Vélo Île-de-France, as guest speaker. During his stay, he met dozens of media representatives, elected officials, active mobility associations and citizens, raising awareness of the importance of cycling in our cities. He explained how cycling is the key to bringing about the necessary change in our urban environments, which for too long have been designed for and around the car. He also demonstrated that cycling is good for health, morale, children's independence, neighborhood life, the planet, etc.
»» Celebrating bike-to-work in Montreal... and Longueuil!
Bike to Work Day, promoting active and sustainable mobility, took place at Parc La Fontaine and Place Longueuil - a first this year - on Tuesday, May 31. Vélo Québec and its partners were on hand to answer questions about safety, the best routes to take, the complementarity of public transit, and more.

The next edition of the Go vélo Montréal Festival will take place from May 28 to June 4, 2023.
