Montréal, Monday, June 10, 2024 - Vélo Québec launches national promotional campaign today With a cargo bike, anything is possible, which aims to promote the cargo bike as an alternative to the car and demystify the barriers to its use.

Cargo bikes are an economical, safe, efficient and beneficial way to get rid of your second or even first car. This mode of transport meets a family's daily needs while being low in GHGs. It can be used to transport children, groceries, accessories or equipment for work, while having a positive impact on our communities in terms of the environment and physical and mental health.

Despite growing popularity in recent years and the diversification of models to meet different user needs (transporting children, shopping, logistics), it still remains a marginal means of transport, especially outside major urban centers.

That's why Vélo Québec has taken the initiative of promoting it, to raise awareness and deconstruct the myths surrounding its use. Through this national campaign, the organization hopes to reach several hundred thousand households and democratize the use of cargo bikes as a car replacement.

The campaign «With a cargo bike, anything is possible»

The video campaign, produced by Exelmans Productions, This article profiles six families from different regions who have chosen to give up a car in favor of a cargo bike for their daycare/school, employment, grocery shopping and leisure activities. Four of these families already owned a cargo bike. Their videos document their daily use. Thanks to Dumoulin Bicyclettes, cargo bikes were loaned to two other families from autumn to spring, so that they could try them out and get away from the car during this period. Their video vignettes take the form of short documentaries following their journey from the moment they received their bikes. Discover the video capsules

Alongside the series of video capsules, a web page dedicated to the campaign is also available. On the menu: a wealth of information to help families better understand the benefits and uses of cargo bikes, tips and tricks for comparing and choosing the ideal model, and tips for optimizing your cargo bike experience.  Go to page
