Job requirements
To be a cycling supervisor for Vélo Québec events, you must be 18 years of age or older and have completed the following courses:
Cycling coaching
Bike mechanics training
Requirements
At least 6 hours of training in bicycle mechanics, covering the following aspects:
- puncture repair and tire change
- changing a chain
- adjustment of brake and gear systems
- troubleshooting tips and tool kit
- chain and derailleur cleaning and lubrication

N.B.: If you have taken or plan to take a training course in bicycle mechanics that is not on this list, it is preferable to validate its acceptance with Vélo Québec by contact us.
General first aid
Requirements
- General first aid and CPR courses, minimum 14 to 16 hours in length

- Check, call, rescue
- Respiratory tract emergencies
- Respiratory and circulatory emergencies
- First aid for respiratory and cardiac arrest
- Wound care
- Head and spinal injuries
- Bone, muscle and joint injuries
- Sudden medical emergencies
- Environmentally-related diseases
- Poisoning (including opioid overdoses)

Some accepted training courses
- Canadian Cross-Rouge General first aid and CPR (16 hours)
- Ambulance Saint-Jean Standard first aid CPR / AED level C (16 hours)
- Lifesaving Society courses lasting more than 16 hours
- Canadian Ski Patrol Patroller card (75 hours)
- CSST First aid in the workplace: 16 hours
Note: some professions do not require first aid certification, as long as their right to practice is verifiable, e.g. doctors, nurses, ambulance attendants, etc.
If you have or plan to obtain first-aid training that differs from those mentioned above, it is your responsibility to validate its acceptance with Vélo Québec.
Vélo Québec reserves the right to refuse to issue a follower certification or to cancel a follower's participation in an event or trip if his or her first aid training is insufficient.
It is possible to register without having completed all courses. It is your responsibility to submit proof of course completion no later than one month prior to the event.
Vélo Québec reserves the right to cancel participation or to refuse any application that does not have the required training, skills and experience, or if the number of supervisors required for the event is reached.
Qualities and skills sought
- Excellent customer service skills (ability to inform and listen, empathy, patience, discretion)
- Good interpersonal skills (positive attitude, good communication, team spirit)
- Self-reliance, resourcefulness, dynamism
- Good bike repair experience
- Reading and understanding route maps
- Good physical condition to keep up with the pace of the chosen event
Responsibilities
Ensure the safety of participants as follows:
- Carry out minor mechanical repairs (provide your own tool kit)
- Basic first aid (provide your own first aid kit)
- Guide participants at problematic intersections along the route
- Enforce road safety rules and remind participants of them in a courteous manner
- Transmit requests for abandonment, major mechanical repairs and medical emergencies to the organization.
The benefits
In exchange for your services as a cycling coach, you get :
- Free registration as a cycling coach for every one-day event you take part in.
- The same services as those offered to event participants (meals, entertainment, supervision).
- Prizes to be won to thank you for your involvement.
- A 5 à 7 of events in September to close the season.
Your participation in the season's events also allows you to accumulate credits:
Cumulate up to 90 $ in credits, by participating as a coach in various Vélo Québec events (with the exception of delegated productions such as the Weekend to Combat Cancer). These credits will only be applicable the following year on your registration fees for these same events. Credits are non-transferable and cannot be accumulated from one year to the next. Here are the credit details for each event:
- 10 $ per Challenge (Tour de l'Île - Discovery route, Metropolitan Challenge and Eastern Townships Vélo Mag Challenge)
- 20 $ for Petite Aventure - 3-day package
- 40 $ for Grand Tour - Week under the stars package
- 20 $ for Grand Tour - weekend package under the stars.
To take advantage of credits Credits accumulated each year are valid only for the following year's event season and are applicable when you register as a coach with the Petite Aventure and/or Grand Tour (only paying events). To use your credits, you must register by contacting by phone the Vélo Québec Voyages team at 514-521-8356 or 1-800-567-8356 ext. 506. Online registration is not possible for Petite Aventure and Grand Tour if you wish to obtain the discount.

If you don't have a password, click on the «Continue» button in the «First time in My Account» section. A password will be e-mailed to you.
2. Once logged in to MY ACCOUNT, go to the Events and click on «Register as a certified framer».»
3. Select the events you wish to register for.
