9000 kilometers by bike across South America

For an entire year, a couple of Quebec cyclists set themselves an extraordinary challenge: to cycle across South America from north to south, covering more than 9,000 kilometers. Their route took them from Cartagena, on Colombia's Caribbean coast, to Ushuaïa, Argentina's southernmost city.

From sweltering heat to snowstorms, rain, wind and the Andean highlands, they faced every possible condition. Their journey took them through Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, Bolivia, Argentina and Chile.

During their talk, they will look back on a journey punctuated by grandiose landscapes, cultural discoveries and archaeological sites, not forgetting travel anecdotes, human and canine encounters and the inevitable mechanical glitches.

Procedure and registration

La Maison des cyclistes: a unique cycling hub

The Maison des cyclistes is located a stone's throw from Parc La Fontaine, where two of Montreal's most important bicycle paths intersect. In addition to Vélo Québec's offices, it features a bicycle travel agency, a boutique and a café, where Vélo Mag conferences are held.

The Maison des cyclistes is a space for services, exchanges, information and troubleshooting for cyclists, and is a project financed under the Agreement on the cultural development of Montreal between the Ville de Montréal and the Government of Quebec.
