By Caroline St-Laurent

This original conference focuses on artistic practices that place the bicycle at the heart of their inspirations. After a brief look at the representation of cycling in modern art and the historical avant-gardes, this presentation will focus on contemporary works in the visual arts, performing arts and cinema, in which the bicycle is a tool for meeting others, or a driving force behind commitment to a social cause. Whether you're passionate about the arts or a complete novice, let yourself be carried away by the creative worlds inspired by bicycles!

About Caroline St-Laurent

Caroline St-Laurent is an artist and visual arts teacher. She specializes in the intersection of art and sport from a feminist perspective. In a multidisciplinary practice based on performance and video, she collaborates with athletes, sportswomen and artists to take a critical look at the cult of performance and reflect on equity, accessibility and social justice.

Her work has been shown in solo and group exhibitions in Quebec and abroad, at live art events and at numerous video creation festivals. Recently, she presented the exhibition Tandem : portrait des paracyclistes Shawna Ryan et Joanie Caron at Centre OBORO in Montreal (2024). The Femmes en performance ARTS + SPORTS project, co-created with dance artist Liliane Moussa, will soon be presented in Quebec high schools as part of the Culture à
