Celebrating 30 years of Route verte, as a father-son dyad and solo act
In 2025, Nicola Zoghbi found the perfect opportunity to introduce his two-year-old son to bicycle touring. After some hesitation, he mapped out a suitable route from Montreal to Sherbrooke, with Bishop's University as the symbolic finish point. Over five days, father and son pedaled at their own pace, sometimes on the Route verte, sometimes on cycle paths or more direct routes.
The following month, Nicola treated himself to a solo trip. He got on his bike to ride Quebec's most emblematic linear park: the P'tit train du Nord. From there, he continued on the Véloroute des Draveurs and the new Voie verte Chelsea. Heritage stations, rivers, varied landscapes and memorable encounters mark this journey, which is a tribute to the 30th anniversary of Route verte, one of the finest cycling networks in the Americas.
