The idea, born during the pandemic, was to ride an entire region close to home from top to bottom. The first week-long loop made me fall in love with the Montérégie, its bucolic rows, waterways and beautiful bike paths. The second was twice as long and 3 times as difficult. It led me to discover the Eastern Townships, its rugged hills, including Mont Mégantic, as well as its charming villages and hundreds of attractions. In 2024, the stars had finally aligned for a trip to Vermont. I planned a 10-day loop on the brand-new Lamoille Valley Rail Trail in the north of the state.

You don't have to go far for a change of scenery on a bike tour. Discover with me the most beautiful roads and bike paths near Montreal. We'll also cover itinerary planning, accommodation and natural disasters!

La Maison des cyclistes: a unique cycling hub

The Maison des cyclistes is located a stone's throw from Parc La Fontaine, where two of Montreal's most important bicycle paths intersect. In addition to Vélo Québec's offices, it features a bicycle travel agency, a boutique and a café, where Vélo Mag conferences are held.

The Maison des cyclistes is a space for services, exchanges, information and troubleshooting for cyclists, and is a project financed under the Agreement on the cultural development of Montreal between the Ville de Montréal and the Government of Quebec.

With you, Vélo Québec goes further!

By becoming a member or making a donation, you contribute to our mission of developing and promoting cycling, and add your voice to ours in advancing the cause of cycling in Quebec.
