Conference: The Silk Road Mountain Race

In the summer of 2024, Quebecer Marie-Pierre Savard took on one of the world's most feared ultracycling events: the Silk Road Mountain Race. Over 14 days, she pedaled almost 2,000 kilometers across Kyrgyzstan, crossing several passes at altitudes of over 4,000 meters.

In a captivating talk, she will recount the highs and lows of this extreme adventure: the physical and mental challenges, the strong emotions, the crucial equipment choices, and the unique experience that brought her so close to the finish line.

About the speaker

An avid cyclist for over fifteen years, Marie-Pierre Savard is always on the lookout for new horizons. In 2020, she became the first person to complete the Quebec Bikepacking Traverse, from Gatineau to Percé. Four years later, she also became the first Quebec woman to dare to take part in the Silk Road Mountain Race. Co-founder of the Les Fines Garnottes collective, she is actively involved in the cycling community and contributes to the creation of bikepacking routes in remote areas.
