THE ORGANIZATION AND ITS MISSION
Since 1967, Vélo Québec, a non-profit organization with a wide range of activities, has been a fixture on the Quebec cycling scene. Whether for leisure or tourism purposes, or as a clean, active means of transportation, Vélo Québec relentlessly promotes the use of bicycles to improve the environment, health and well-being of citizens.
Visit program Cycliste averti, offered in Quebec's elementary schools, is designed to help young people in grades 5 and 6 learn to ride their bikes safely and more independently in their environment.
Vélo Québec recruits cycling instructors to travel to schools as a team, to accompany and train students during road cycling activities, namely an educational group outing and an individual exam.
Profile required:
- People who are comfortable biking to schools on the island of Montreal and who own a bike; ;
- Openness to working with a variety of teams; ;
- Experience in teaching or animating school-age children; ;
- With an interest in promoting active transportation and healthy lifestyle habits.
Requirements:
- Take part in an 11-hour training course in April-May (date to be confirmed); ;
- Availability during the week in May and June; ;
- Travel to participating Montreal schools between 7:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. ;
- Be prepared to undergo a criminal records check;
- Knowledge of bicycle mechanics is an asset; ;
- First aid and CPR certification (asset).
Vélo Québec offers :
- Hourly rate :
- Instructor training, without additional qualification: 20 $/hour
- Instructor training, with ONE additional qualification (mechanical/first aid): 21 $/hour
- Instructor training, with TWO additional qualifications (mechanical/first aid): 22 $/hour
- Paid portion of travel time ;
- Flexible working hours ;
- Full-time or part-time, depending on what you're looking for.
