Five years after its first symposium on active transportation, held in June 2010, Vélo Québec is organizing a second event in Montreal on September 23 and 24. The symposium Walking, biking, active cities - Solutions for Quebec invites Quebec stakeholders and decision-makers to share best practices and discover avant-garde active transportation initiatives.

We're certainly delighted to see how far we've come on foot or by bike since 2010! Today, more and more municipalities are adopting active mobility plans or including active transportation in their travel plans, thanks to the deployment of the On foot, by bike, an active city, In addition, school stakeholders in all regions of Quebec are now concerned with facilitating safe, active travel to school. Route verte is increasingly used for daily commuting, work or shopping, and not just for tourism and leisure.

As a company committed to reducing greenhouse gas emissions, we have a responsibility to develop active transportation. Active transportation is certainly one way in which we can individually contribute to this collective effort to change travel habits throughout Quebec. And even if the concept of active travel has the wind in its sails, it's high time we took action!

This symposium will enable us to take stock and share our experiences. It is open to all those working on these issues.
