Job summary

Visit Route verte is a vast collective project offering 5300 km of cycling network across Quebec. Initiated by Vélo Québec in 1995 and developed in collaboration with hundreds of regional and local partners, with the support of the Ministère des Transports et de la Mobilité durable (MTMD), Route verte has become the largest cycling network in North America.

The Project Manager is responsible for carrying out various technical mandates and projects related to Route verte.

Some of the objectives of Route verte
  • Ensure the safety and comfort of cyclists by bringing facilities up to standard;
  • Mobilize managers and partners;
  • Complete the expansion phases of the cycling network;
  • Conduct research and documentation.
 General responsibilities
  • Produce studies, technical opinions, data sheets and expert advice on walking and cycling in conjunction with Route verte:
    • Carry out information gathering, field surveys, inventories of facilities and signage, meetings with relevant partners, cost estimates, etc;
    • Compile and analyze data;
    • Follow-up with managers;
    • Collaborate on the production of maps and plans;
    • Write recommendation reports and prepare presentations for managers;
  • Support partners in Route verte expansion projects;
  • Document interactions with managers in the CRM tool;
  • Preparation of segment management agreements for Route verte;
  • Monitor deadlines and hours allocated to assigned mandates;
  • Perform any other related tasks as requested by the immediate supervisor.
Profile required
  • University degree in a relevant discipline (e.g. geography, urban planning, architecture);
  • Minimum 3 years' experience in development, active transportation, urban planning or other relevant experience;
  • Knowledge of the issues and challenges of walking and cycling safety;
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and a sense of customer service;
  • Methodical, attention to detail;
  • Analytical and synthesizing skills;
  • Ability to work as part of a team;
  • Proficiency in Office suite;
  • Experience of working with ArcGIS and Illustrator (asset);
  • Communication skills in French (oral and written) and technical writing skills;
  • Functional written and spoken English (some collaborators or customers may be English-speaking);
  • Available for regional travel (Class 5 driver's license required);
  • Strong interest in cycle touring (required);
  • Able to cycle as part of his duties.
