In short, how would you describe this role?
The Travel Consultant informs and advises customers on the various packages and products available, with a view to selling them a cycling trip that meets their needs to the destinations offered by the agency. He or she makes package reservations and provides destination-specific information, offers and sells travel insurance and complementary services, and collects payments. This person is also responsible for providing quality service, in accordance with the organization's standards, values and policies, and within the framework of Vélo Québec's mission.
More concretely, what would the tasks look like?
- Advise customers according to their needs and ensure quality customer service;
- Contribute, in collaboration with other team members, to achieving the agency's sales and revenue objectives;
- Communicate travel information according to the type of package chosen (flights, transfers, accommodations, rates, conditions, booking terms, itinerary, GPX data, etc.);
- Handle the agency's various promotions and targeted programs (e.g. referencing program);
- Contribute to Vélo Québec Voyages package marketing activities by participating in product data entry, pricing, promotions and validations of customer information content (sites, documents, traveler's guide, etc.);
- Contribute to the agency's sales activities (information evenings, trade shows, balance sheets, etc.);
- Monitor customer feedback on services and the results of surveys designed to improve the quality of our services;
- Act as emergency telephone liaison for customers when required;
- Participate in certain events and be present in the field when required;
- Support the team in other related tasks as requested by the immediate superior.
Job skills and requirements
- Training in tourism, travel consulting or travel-related fields (DEC in tourism or equivalent);
- Hold OPC travel consultant certification (or in the process of obtaining it);
- At least one year's experience in a travel agency or tour operator;
- Strong interest in sales and meeting targets;
- Strong communication skills: participative approach, people skills and listening skills;
- Ability to manage several files at the same time, organizational skills;
- Proactivity and initiative;
- Good general knowledge of destinations (in Quebec, Canada and internationally);
- Oral and written bilingualism (some of our customers are English-speaking);
- Mastery of the Office suite;
- Knowledge of bicycle touring or outdoor activities;
- Knowledge of GPX data an asset;
- Knowledge of Reslynx and PC Voyages software: an asset.

Working hours are Monday to Friday, 35 hours a week.
