Vélosympathique certification: 18 Quebec communities recognized for their commitment to bicycle culture

15 April 2026

Montréal, Wednesday, April 15, 2026 - Vélo Québec today announced the winners of the 17th round of certification for the Vélosympathique movement. This edition highlights the commitment of 2 communities, 14 organizations and 2 campuses, which stand out for their concrete actions in favor of cycling as a mode of transportation and leisure accessible to all.

Since the program's inception in 2015, 42 communities, 89 organizations and 31 campuses are now actively contributing to the development of a genuine cycling culture in Quebec.

«Vélo Québec is proud to support communities that are making a concrete commitment to the development of a cycling culture, and to recognize the efforts of those who are implementing structuring initiatives,» says Magali Bebronne, Program Director at Vélo Québec.

A structuring program for sustainable mobility

The Vélosympathique movement highlights and supports communities that are taking concrete action to make cycling a genuine transportation and leisure option.

Applications are reviewed by an independent committee, which awards one of five levels of certification (bronze to diamond) or an honorable mention. Each organization also receives recommendations on how to continue its efforts.
