Vélo Québec invites the public to take part in the Bike Month Challenge on Geovelo and discover its inspiring campaign, made possible thanks to the financial support of the Quebec government.
MONTREAL, May 1, 2025 - It's Bike Month! Throughout May, Vélo Québec is inviting Quebecers to rediscover the benefits of cycling through an inspiring communications campaign and the Bike Month Challenge, accessible free of charge via the Geovelo platform.
The Bike Month Challenge: solo or in community!
This year, the Bike Month Challenge is back with a vengeance on Geovelo, an intuitive application designed to help you plan your bike trips... and stimulate friendly competition with other cyclists. Two ways to take part:
- In the community : companies, organizations, schools, associations and territories (municipalities, regions or MRCs) are invited to create their own community on Geovelo to stimulate the collective participation of their employees, students or citizens.
- Solo : anyone can also register as an individual by joining the Vélo Québec Bike Month Challenge community.
The principle is simple: pedal for at least 10 minutes during the month of May for a chance to win one of the prizes on offer.
A campaign inviting people to pedal for their health, whatever their shape
Vélo Québec is also launching a new awareness campaign to raise awareness of the many physical and mental health benefits of cycling.
«Cycling is a simple, accessible and powerful solution for improving our health and quality of life. Whether for work, school or pleasure, every pedal stroke counts. In May, we're inviting the whole of Quebec to discover or rediscover cycling, at your own pace.» - Jean-François Rheault, President and CEO, Vélo Québec
Motivating messages, highlighted by illustrator Justyna Stasik, will be featured in a poster, web and social media campaign:
- One pedal a day keeps sores at bay.
Cycling reduces stress, improves mood and reduces the risk of chronic disease by up to 40 %.
- 7 km by bike every day = 1 extra year of life. And what would you do with another year?
Replace your car journeys with cycling and improve your life expectancy, your health... and your days.
- Less effort, but just as many benefits: thanks to the electric bike!
76 % of the effort of a conventional bike, but longer, more frequent rides... and just as many benefits for your heart, body and mind.
