Mountain biking: community organizations join forces to launch a series of video vignettes promoting safe trail riding!

Montreal, Wednesday, August 10, 2022 - Vélo Québec, the Association des parcs régionaux du Québec, the Alliance Québec Vélo de montagne and the Association des stations de ski du Québec today joined forces to launch five video vignettes on mountain bike safety, a project made possible thanks to the financial support of the Quebec government. In a joint effort to promote best practices on the trails, this collaborative project will help convey a stronger message to an ever-growing number of users.

The aim of this project is to support managers in promoting mountain bike safety. The video vignettes will be launched at a rate of one per week, for five weeks, starting today on the Vélo Québec YouTube channel, and on each partner's social media channels. The themes covered, in order of broadcast, will be as follows:

  • Capsule # 1 - The Mountain Bike Code of Conduct

Objective: To present the new Mountain Bike Code of Conduct by communicating and illustrating the various statements it contains.

  • Capsule # 2- Family rides

Objective: Demonstrate how to introduce the whole family to mountain biking.

Coming in the week of August 15.

  • Capsule #3 - The’ethics on the trail

Objective: To advise users on the best practices to adopt before, during and after their discharge.

Coming in the week of August 22.

  • Capsule # 4 - Electrically assisted bicycles (EAB)

Objective: To define what an electrically-assisted bicycle is, and introduce trail users to the rules of courtesy.

Coming in the week of August 29.

  • Capsule # 5 - Mountain bike courses and instructors

Objective: Encourage users to take a mountain biking course to improve their skills or learn the sport.

Coming in the week of September 5.
