Montréal, January 1er March 2022 - Vélo Québec today unveils the program for the Go vélo Montréal Festival, presented by Les Producteurs de lait du Québec, in collaboration with Desjardins. The Festival returns this year to its usual spring schedule, taking place from May 29 to June 5. The major events - the Défi métropolitain, the Tour la Nuit and the Tour de l’Île de Montréal - will all be opportunities to enjoy the pleasure of cycling with your loved ones. Register by March 14 and take advantage of the introductory rate, the best rate of the season, at www.velo.qc.ca/fgvm.
Much to the delight of Vélo Québec, the singer-songwriter Émile Bilodeau I can only imagine what a joy it will be to finally be able to get together by the thousands, to celebrate the arrival of the warm weather, and to be able to do it all by bike, to the rhythm of the bike, in a beautiful party in motion! I can't wait to see you all again!«
Défi métropolitain - Sunday, May 29, starting at 7 a.m.
La 20e edition of the Défi métropolitain offers cyclists the chance to pedal, at their own pace, an untimed route ranging from 50 to 145 km. This will be an opportunity to discover a new portion of the greater metropolitan area, starting from Pointe-Calumet.
Tour la Nuit - Friday, June 3, starting at 8 p.m.
The Tour la Nuit will have a 22 km, car-free route through the streets of 4 Montreal boroughs: Plateau Mont-Royal, Rosemont–La-Petite-Patrie, Mercier–Hochelaga-Maisonneuve and Ville-Marie.
Tour de l’Île de Montréal - Sunday, June 5, starting at 9:30 a.m.
The Tour de l'Île will have a 36-km, car-free route through the streets of 7 Montreal boroughs: Plateau Mont-Royal, Rosemont–La-Petite-Patrie, Outremont, Côte-des-Neiges-Notre-Dame-de-Grâce, Sud-Ouest, Verdun and Ville-Marie, as well as the towns of Mont-Royal and Westmount.
To ensure the smooth flow of cycling traffic along the Tour la Nuit and Tour de l’Île de Montréal routes, there will be no single start and finish site. When registering, participants will be asked to choose a starting point from a number of access points along the route, as well as a starting time from among the proposed time slots.
- At Tour de l'Île, you'll be able to start from 3 access points: Parc La Fontaine, Parc MacDonald and Parc Angrignon.
- At Tour la Nuit, it will be possible to start from 2 access points: Parc La Fontaine and Parc Maisonneuve.
To enable cyclists to complete their loop at the same point from which they started, the Tour de l'Île and Tour la Nuit routes will be entirely closed to motorized traffic for the duration of the event.
