Montreal, Wednesday, June 15, 2022 - The mountain biking season is currently in full swing at more than a hundred sites across Quebec. To better equip the growing number of mountain bikers and help them get the most out of their outings, Vélo Québec is announcing the arrival of a new, easy-to-use guide. new interactive map listing the 2,500 km of mountain bike trails across the province. This tool is the fruit of several years' work, collecting data and referencing the various trails across Quebec.
From now on, users will be able to plan their next mountain bike outing by viewing the various trails. Advanced functionalities will facilitate searches, notably by selecting criteria according to level of difficulty, tourist region or type of activity, etc. The map can also display all the trails in a given network, with a high degree of accuracy ranging from 30 centimetres to 2 metres. This user-friendly map is intended as an alternative to the Mountain Bike Trail Directory originally proposed by Vélo Québec. The most complete information will be updated thanks to the contributions of trail managers, so that cyclists can plan their outings from the comfort of home. View map
For trail network managers, the interactive map will become an effective tool for risk management, particularly for coordinating trail inspection and maintenance follow-up.
10 years of mountain biking!
Already 10 years ago, Vélo Québec launched its mountain bike program, committing itself to the development of recreational mountain biking, both in terms of democratization and trail development. On the eve of its 10the year of operation, Vélo Québec is proud of how far we've come. The adventure doesn't stop here, quite the contrary. This year, we'll be stepping up our efforts tenfold, with a new code of conduct for mountain bikers to help reduce the risk of injury, the production and broadcasting of video vignettes on mountain bike safety, and, in collaboration with our partners (Association des stations de ski du Québec, Association des parcs régionaux du Québec and Québec Vélo de montagne), the development of the national network. In short, many projects to come!
