Vélo Québec launches the Observatoire du vélo: an essential platform for understanding and promoting cycling as a mode of transport, leisure and discovery.

Montréal, Tuesday, May 14, 2025 - Vélo Québec is proud to announce the launch of Bicycle Observatory, a new web platform dedicated to the dissemination and promotion of knowledge on cycling in Quebec, both as a means of transport as leisure and tourist exploration.

A collective tool for change

The Bicycle Observatory is positioned as a a reference point for anyone interested in cycling decision-makers, citizens, journalists, tourism, health and planning professionals. Under the supervision of a scientific committee made up of experts from the academic, municipal and community sectors, the Observatory offers simplified access to a wealth of content about cycling practices in Québec.

Using accessible, well-illustrated tools, it aims to fuel public debate, support decision-making and encourage changes in habits, This is true for both daily commuting and active leisure activities.

Clear, up-to-date and inspiring information

The’Bicycle Observatory offer :

  • content geared towards both utility bike than to the bicycles for leisure and tourism, across Quebec;
  • a comparison of Quebec data with Canadian and international studies;
  • from infographics easily exported for a better understanding of trends;
  • from popularized news from academic research to highlight the benefits of cycling (health, quality of life, tourist appeal).

The objective is clear: promote bicycle culture in all its forms, We're also centralizing knowledge to make it accessible to everyone.
