Montreal, Thursday, October 3, 2019 - In Canada's most secure laboratory, microbiologists keep a close eye on the world's worst pathogens: influenza, Ebola, SARS, and more. The aim: to provide the best possible response to the next major epidemic, which may occur sooner than we think and have far-reaching consequences.

In its latest issue, Québec Science takes us to the heart of the Public Health Agency of Canada's National Microbiology Laboratory, where the latest treatment and vaccine against Ebola hemorrhagic fever were developed, but above all, the nerve center of the national response against infectious diseases and the main bulwark against epidemics of all kinds, even the most exotic ones that are currently taking place outside the country. Are you ready for the next pandemic?

And on the feature side, for a second year, the magazine unveils Quebec-created technos that aim to make the world smarter, greener, more efficient and, why not, more fun. Last spring, Québec Science put out a call to independent inventors and start-ups. A jury then carefully studied all the applications and selected ten. Here are the winners.
