Montreal, Wednesday, May 30, 2018 - On the first weekend of June, the Go vélo Montréal Festival will be in full swing at the Tour la Nuit and Tour de l’Île de Montréal. Car travel may require a little more planning than usual, as some streets will be closed to traffic and parking for a few hours. In the interest of keeping the public well informed, Festival organizers wish to inform citizens and visitors of the arrangements that have been made to facilitate their car travel and access to health care facilities.

Visit Friday June 1st, the Tour la Nuit begins at 8:15 p.m. on avenue du Parc, at the corner of rue Mont-Royal, and ends at parc Jeanne-Mance. The cyclists' route takes them through the following boroughs in order: Ville-Marie, Plateau-Mont-Royal, Ahuntsic-Cartierville, Villeray-St-Michel-Parc-Extention, Rosemont-La Petite-Patrie.

Visit Sunday June 3, the Tour de l’Île de Montréal begins at 9:15 a.m. on avenue du Parc, at the corner of avenue du Mont-Royal, and ends at parc Jeanne-Mance. The cyclists' route takes them through the following boroughs in order: Ville-Marie, Plateau-Mont-Royal, Rosemont-La-Petite-Patrie, Saint-Léonard, Villeray-Saint-Michel-Parc-Extension, Montréal-Nord, Rivière-des-Prairies-Pointe-aux-Trembles, Anjou, Montréal-Est, Mercier-Hochelaga-Maisonneuve.

Access to healthcare facilities

Alternative measures have been put in place to ensure access to healthcare facilities close to the Tour la Nuit and Tour de l’Île de Montréal routes. The Réseau de la santé et de services sociaux de Montréal recommends :

  • contact the establishment concerned before going there;
  • call Info-Santé at 811 before going to the emergency room of one of these establishments;
  • call 911 if the situation is urgent.

During the events, a number of volunteers, cadets and police officers will be positioned at the intersections of the blocked streets to direct motorists. These traffic wardens will provide those wishing to do so with a map of the event route and bypasses. Organizers would like to remind everyone that pedestrians and cyclists are welcome to cross the bike train at any time. Volunteers will be on hand to assist them.

All traffic information for the Tour la nuit and Tour de l’Île de Montréal will be published in La Presse + on June 1 and 2.
