The Festival Go vélo Montréal presents «Le vélo et la grande transformation de Paris», a videoconference by Christophe Najdovski

Montreal, Friday, May 21, 2021 - As part of the Go vélo Montréal Festival, Vélo Québec presents the videoconference Bicycles and the great transformation of Paris, by Christophe Najdovski, Deputy Mayor of Paris. Having visited Montreal in 2016 to present «Le virage vélo de Paris», he returns five years later to take stock of the impact of the ambitious 2015-2020 Bicycle Plan, which has transformed Paris in terms of mobility.

During this videoconference, he will also explain how events such as the 2019 public transport strike and the pandemic - with its «coronapist» accommodation - have contributed to the acceleration of bicycle advances in the City of Light. In short, an inspiring conference to demonstrate how cycling can help create great cities on a more human scale.

About Christophe Najdovski

Born in Paris in 1969, Christophe Najdovski is a professor of economics and social policy. In 1993, he joined the Les Verts party and became involved in movements to promote cycling and better sharing of public space. Since 2001, he has been elected to the Paris City Council and has held various deputy positions under Mayor Anne Hidalgo, notably in charge of transport, travel, roads and public spaces from 2014 to 2020 and, since 2020, in charge of the greening of public spaces, green spaces, biodiversity and the animal condition. Christophe Najdovski has also been President of the European Cycling Federation since 2018.
