Montreal, August 27, 2020 - Magazines Québec Science and Vélo Mag are actively implementing sustainable practices to reduce their carbon footprint. To this end, Vélo Québec Éditions, publisher of both publications, is proud to announce a significant reduction in the use of plastic bags when sending magazines to subscribers.
Subscription renewal notices, which used to have to be inserted in a plastic bag, will now be integrated into the magazine itself, in the form of a double-cover. This efficient solution makes it possible to send the same information to subscribers, but without having to resort to a plastic bag... A great first for magazines in Quebec!
« Despite all the possibilities offered by digital applications of our magazines, we believe that holding a magazine in your hands remains a magical moment. That's why, in collaboration with our printer Solisco, we developed the double-cover concept, an innovative solution that combines the useful with the pleasurable, and reduces our use of plastic at source. And we continue to work towards sustainable solutions to ensure that our readers' pleasure is not contaminated by plastic. »underlines Suzanne Lareau, publisher, Vélo Québec Éditions.
In addition, the advertising inserts and/or supplements usually sent with the magazines will now be blown or stapled rather than bagged (except for certain larger bike maps, brochures or leaflets, which will require occasional bagging). It's also worth noting that both magazines have been printed on FSC paper for many years, sourced from well-managed forests and other responsible sources. Concrete actions in favor of sustainable practices!
