Registration opens for the Montreal Go Bike Festival:
Spokesperson Émile Bilodeau kicks off the Tour de l'Île en chansons!

7 March 2018

Montreal, Wednesday, March 7, 2018 - Vélo Québec unveils the Go vélo Montréal Festival, taking place from May 27 to June 3. Presented by Les Producteurs de lait du Québec, the Festival invites two-wheeled enthusiasts to register now and ride with family and friends at its major popular events: the Metropolitan challenge, the Tour la Nuit and, of course, the Tour de l’Île de Montréal, where the spokesman Émile Bilodeau, accompanied by his musicians, will kick things off in song on Sunday, June 3. A Festival like this is like riding a bike: you never forget!

My cass is full of bikes!

«I agreed to be a spokesperson for the Go vélo Montréal Festival because I love cycling, I live by bike. And what's really exciting is that more and more people are cycling. Cycling is for everyone, grown-ups and kids alike, beginners and those who just can't get enough. Imagine the urban party we'll have, all of us on bikes in car-free streets, seeing and experiencing Montreal differently, it's an event. On Sunday, June 3, I'll have the pleasure of giving the start of the Tour de l'Île en chansons. It's clear that I'm waiting for you!» - Émile Bilodeau, author, composer and performer, revelation of the year at the ADISQ in 2017.

2018 Program - Festival Go Vélo Montréal

The Festival is a week of cycling and urban activities that includes three major events held in Montreal and the metropolitan area, as well as bike-to-work activities.
Défi métropolitain: Sunday, May 27

The first major cycling event of the season to leave from Vaudreuil-Dorion, this year's Défi visits the southwestern tip of the metropolitan region, bordered by Ontario, the Outaouais River and the St. Lawrence River. With no stress and no stopwatch, cyclists choose the route of their choice: 50, 75, 100, 125 or 150 km of fun!

One Tour la Nuit: Friday, June 1

A Tour la Nuit is a carnival-like event, a festive Friday night, a colorful parade where cyclists of all ages form a 23-kilometer ribbon of light. It's Montreal by night at its best! Start and finish in Parc Jeanne-Mance.

Tour de l’Île de Montréal: Sunday, June 3

On the first Sunday in June, thousands of cyclists will gather in the heart of the city to take part in the classic Tour de l’Île de Montréal. Depending on your level of experience, you can enjoy a contemplative or more athletic ride:

  • 50 or 25 km: 50 km of car-free streets, the perfect opportunity to see Montreal differently. Possibility of shortening to 25 km.
  • 50 km Express: accelerated version: you drive at 30 km/h for 1 h 30 on car-free streets.
  • 100 or 60 km Discovery: marked route through streets open to cars, except for the last 16 km in the company of thousands of other Tour cyclists. Possibility of shortening to 60 km.

Again this year, the cost is just 10 $ for teens to take part in the Tour de l'Île or Tour la Nuit (20 $ in the Défi Métropolitain) and children from 12 and under drive free of charge at the Festival Go vélo Montréal - a concrete action encouraging them to take part in physical activities.
