Bike to Work Day, Wednesday, May 30

In the week of the Go vélo Montréal Festival, Vélo Québec encourages Montrealers to opt for bike-to-work. On the occasion of the Bike to Work Day, Vélo Québec and its partners will be offering tips and advice to inform cyclists and would-be cyclists about this fast, healthy and accessible form of active transportation. They'll be on hand to answer questions about safety instructions, routes to take, how to complement public transit, and more.

  • Square Victoria, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Conference, Thursday, May 31:

«How to mobilize the business world in favor of cycling? The London example!»
At the Go vélo Montréal Festival, Vélo Québec is proud to welcome Chris Kenyon, a cycling activist and board member of London Cycling Campaign, a 12,000-member cycling advocacy organization. In 2014, Chris Kenyon launched Cycling Works, a campaign to engage senior business leaders to support the development of a network of protected cycle lanes in the heart of London.

At this conference, he will explain how this mobilization campaign came about, what its follow-up will be and how it could be envisaged in a city like Montreal. The conference will be followed by a discussion with Caroline Tessier, Executive Director of the Association des sociétés de développement commercial de Montréal, and Guillaume Lavoie, lecturer at ENAP, public policy entrepreneur and instigator of the #veloconomie capsules. With them, we'll look at how the experience here could be transposed to another scale, by integrating active transportation into the redevelopment of commercial arteries, for example.

  •  6 p.m., Maison du développement durable (50, rue Saint-Catherine Ouest)
  • Free admission
  • Conference in English

The Go vélo Montréal Festival is a great opportunity for cyclists of all ages and levels to participate at their own pace, with family, friends or solo, in healthy activities that bring people together. Julie Gélinas, marketing director of Producteurs de lait du Québec. «A chocolate milk will help people recover from their hike,» she concludes.
