The Festival Go vélo Montréal invites media representatives to the starting line of the Tour de l'Île de Montréal, Sunday, June 2, starting at 7 a.m. - A musical start with Émile Bilodeau and his guests!

Montréal, Saturday, June 1, 2019 - This Sunday morning, June 2, media representatives are invited to the starting line of the Tour de l’Île de Montréal, located on avenue du Parc, at the corner of avenue du Mont-Royal. For the occasion, they'll be treated to a sing-along start with the popular Émile Bilodeau and guests Lor-Adrianne Cassidy and Jérôme 50. To officially kick off the 35th Tour de l'Île, the trio will revisit a classic from the Quebec repertoire, Tour of the island, by Félix Leclerc!

IMPORTANT Tour de l’Île de Montréal: as there are several courses at Tour de l’Île de Montréal, there will be two starts. The most spectacular, with thousands of cyclists, will be at 9.15 am.

Starting at 7 a.m.: Spontaneous interviews

Ms. Joëlle Sévigny, General Manager of Vélo Québec Événements et Voyages, and M. Émile Bilodeau (starting at 8 a.m.), spokespersons for the Festival Go vélo Montréal, will be available at the start line for interviews. Media are also invited to circulate and conduct spontaneous interviews among the riders. cyclists waiting to leave and with the public figures present the Mayor of Montréal, Ms. Valérie Plante, the Minister for Metropolitan France, Ms. Chantal Rouleau proudly accompanied by a great ambassador of the metropolis and cycling enthusiast, Maestro Kent Nagano. Finally, a honorary platoon of elected municipal officials, headed by Hadrien Parizeau, will start the Tour de l'Île at 9:15 am.

7 a.m. to 9:15 a.m. - Start of the 65-100 Km Discovery race

It's an early morning start that will last more than two hours. Cyclists will ride in line, as prescribed by the Highway Safety Code, on streets open to vehicular traffic.

between 7:30 a.m. and 12 p.m. - Cyclovia Camillien-Houde

To warm up or extend the pleasure after the Tour, participants can climb the Camillien-Houde route (4.2 km round trip) without cars as part of the Cyclovia.org between 7.30 a.m. and 12 p.m.! Accessible via avenue du Mont-Royal. Free admission.

9 a.m. - Departure ceremony and speeches

The master of ceremonies will speak on the podium at the start line:

  • Mr. Bruno Letendre, President, Les Producteurs de lait du Québec;
  • Suzanne Lareau, President and CEO, Vélo Québec;
  • Émile Bilodeau, singer-songwriter and cyclist, spokesperson for the Montreal Go Bike Festival;
  • Valérie Plante, Mayor of Montréal;
  • Mrs Chantal Rouleau, Chantal Rouleau, Minister for Transport and Minister responsible for the Metropolis and the Montreal Region ;
  • Mr. Kent Nagano, Music Director of the Orchestre symphonique de Montréal.
9:15am - Start of the "Tour de l'île en chansons" (25-50km and 50km Express)

Gondolas will be available for cameramen and photographers from 8.15 am. At departure, only cameramen will have access to the gondolas. Photographers will be able to use them afterwards. Microwave truck technicians should contact the Tour de l’Île de Montréal sound technician to avoid any interference in signal frequencies.

11 a.m. to 4 p.m. - Arrival of participants and entertainment at the finish site

Starting at noon in Parc Jeanne-Mance, Montréal Complètement cirque will liven up the Tour de l’Île de Montréal finish site. On the program: participatory activities for young and old, and circus performances throughout the day.
