Montreal, Wednesday, May 29, 2019 - As part of the Go vélo Montréal Festival, Vélo Québec - in collaboration with the Conseil régional de l'environnement de Montréal - presents the conference Electric bikes: the next revolution in urban mobility, by Christopher Cherry. A civil engineer and professor at the University of Tennessee, Christopher Cherry is an international authority on active mobility and emerging transportation technologies. He is interested in all aspects of sustainable mobility in relation to safety, economic and environmental issues.

Electrically-assisted bicycles are booming. In the Netherlands, sales already account for 50 % of the market. The wave has spread to Europe and China, and is about to sweep across America, notably Quebec. With distance and gradients no longer a deterrent, more people will consider urban mobility by bike. This new reality should influence infrastructure designers and, among other things, encourage the emergence of bike parking facilities worthy of the name. Is Montreal ready for this revolution?

Date Thursday, May 30
Time : 18 h
Location La Maison du développement durable
(50, rue Sainte-Catherine Ouest)
