Vélo Québec is launching the Hiver à vélo campaign, an invitation to make two-wheeled vehicles part of your daily commute!

Montréal, January 22, 2020 - Vélo Québec launches Winter cycling, Vélo Québec has launched a campaign aimed at demystifying winter cycling by inviting people to give it a try. As part of this campaign, Vélo Québec is presenting inspiring portraits of student, parent and professional cyclists of all ages who get around by bike in winter, and offering tips on how to get around. tips & tricks to make travel easier, and gives everyone the chance to win prizes by taking part in the contest Winter cycling, from February 1 to 15.

«Winter brings us beautiful sunny days and snow-cleared roads for cycling. This means we can enjoy the pleasures of being outdoors while saving time on our journeys. In Quebec, 180,000 cyclists travel at least once between December and March. This trend is constantly evolving, as evidenced by the latest data collected in Montreal, where the number of daily bike trips during the months of January and February rose from 8535 in 2015 to 22,148 in 2017, an increase of 159 %,» tells us Suzanne Lareau, President and CEO of Vélo Québec.

Hiver à vélo is Vélo Québec's annual winter cycling campaign, launched in January. It aims to demystify winter cycling by inviting Quebecers to give it a try. The campaign is made possible thanks to financial assistance from the Quebec government as part of the 2013-2020 Action Plan on Climate Change, financed by the Green Fund.
