It's a miniature reproduction of a road network. Closed to vehicular traffic, it is dedicated to educating children - aged 2 to 9 - about road safety in general and cycling in particular.

In this guide, Vélo Québec presents how to set up a bicycle education park and make it a dynamic place to learn to ride a bike, fully adapted to children's needs. Based on practical experience and examples from here and elsewhere, this guide is aimed at all those involved in developing active mobility among young people.

This type of layout generally includes streets and intersections, as well as signage, of reduced dimensions, to simulate as closely as possible the situations cyclists encounter on their journeys.

In this webinar, Louis Lalonde and Magali Bebronne of Vélo Québec present the concept of a bicycle education park and the outline of the guide Concevoir un parc d'éducation cycliste. They are followed by Julien Desaulniers from the City of Laval, who shares the experience of setting up such a park at Laval during the summer of 2021.
