Dress to ride

In general, your everyday clothes will be perfect for cycling.

Like an onion

Go for multi-layering, which you can adapt to the weather and the seasons: don't dress too warmly, and remove a layer as soon as you warm up.

Protect your pants

If your bike doesn't have a chain guard, you may want to protect your pants by rolling them up or using a trouser clamp.

For your feet

Choose shoes or sandals with rigid soles. They'll be more efficient for pedaling!

In wet weather

  • Get lightweight rainwear that's easy to carry in your bag. That way, you'll always be prepared!

In cold weather

  • Choose a windbreaker and insulated mid-layer over a heavy coat.
  • Wear unlined windproof pants and boots that are neither too bulky nor too warm.
  • Protect your hands with warm mittens.
  • Smoked goggles (daytime) or ski goggles will protect your eyes from the cold and wind.
  • Wear a toque or hat that covers your ears and forehead, or a ski helmet.
