Festival Go Vélo: Montreal prepares to host two major cycling events on May 30 and June 1

May 28, 2025

Montréal, Wednesday, May 28, 2025 - The Ville de Montréal and Vélo Québec wish to inform the public that two major cycling events will take place on Friday, May 30 and Sunday, June 1, causing major traffic disruptions in several areas of east-end Montreal.

The Tour la Nuit, on May 30, and the Tour de l’Île de Montréal, on June 1, will bring together thousands of cyclists of all ages. These festive, family-friendly events are designed to promote cycling and celebrate active mobility in Montreal. This year, the routes will take place east of boulevard Pie-IX.

Street closures and parking bans are to be expected on routes used by cyclists. The city recommends that motorists respect parking restrictions, plan their trips and opt for public transit or consider alternative routes.

Details of the routes, times of street closures and recommendations for citizens are available at Vélo Québec website.

Tour la Nuit
- Street closures from 7:30 p.m. to midnight
- The quadrilateral is formed by Viau and Beaubien streets, as well as Henri-Bourassa and Langelier boulevards.
- Streets will be reopened, in sections, as cyclists pass through.

Tour de l'Île
- Street closures from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.
- The areas affected are south of boulevard Gouin and north of rue Notre-Dame, between boulevard Pie-IX and the eastern tip of the island.
- We invite residents of the Montreal East and Pointe-aux-Trembles areas to consult the Infocirculation map carefully. During the event, the southern part of these areas will be closed off, and the Jean-Baptiste-Legardeur bridge towards Repentigny will be the only access and exit route by car.
- Streets will be reopened, in sections, as cyclists pass through.

Six crossing points will keep traffic moving outside the routes: the Olivier-Charbonneau Bridge, the Metropolitan Autoroute, Sherbrooke Street, Souligny Avenue, the Jean-Baptiste-Legardeur Bridge and the Charles-De Gaulle Bridge.
