Festival Go vélo Montréal 2019, May 26 to June 2

Montreal, Sunday, May 26, 2019 - The Metropolitan challenge yesterday officially kicked off the Go vélo Montréal Festival, a week of cycling and urban activities for all, presented by Les Producteur de lait du Québec. From May 26 to June 2, cyclists are invited to celebrate at a number of popular events, including the Tour la Nuit and Tour de l’Île de Montréal.

Wednesday, May 29 - Bike to Work Day

In the week of the Go vélo Montréal Festival, Vélo Québec encourages Montrealers to opt for bike-to-work. On the occasion of the Bike to Work Day, Vélo Québec and its partners will be offering tips and advice to inform cyclists and aspiring cyclists about this fast, healthy and accessible form of active transportation. They'll be on hand to answer questions about safety instructions, routes to take, how to complement public transit, and more.

Thursday, May 30 - Conference by Christopher Cherry

«Electric bikes: the next revolution in urban mobility»
Vélo Québec is proud to welcome Christopher Cherry, a civil engineer and professor at the University of Tennessee, as a speaker at the Go vélo Montréal Festival. Mr. Cherry is an international authority on active mobility and emerging transportation technologies. At this conference, he will discuss electric-assist bicycles. In the Netherlands, its sales already account for 50 % of the market. The wave has spread to Europe and China, and is about to sweep across America, notably Quebec.

Friday, May 31 - Tour la Nuit

From dusk onwards, cyclists are invited to a spectacular colorful party, spread over 21 km without cars. On the program: a Local BBQ starting at 5 p.m. at the Terrasse Recettes d'ici, located at the start site (and finish line), an original and festive passage through the Olympic Stadium and musical entertainment provided by a DJ-VJ to the finish site!

 

  • Departure: 8:15 p.m., avenue du Parc
  • Arrival: Parc Jeanne-Mance
  • Course: 21 km

 

Always 10 $ for teens and free for kids
Vélo Québec encourages young people and their parents to get moving as a family. Teens pay only 10 $ for Tour de l’Île de Montréal (50 or 25 km) and Tour la Nuit. And it's always free for children 12 and under.

Sunday, June 2 - Tour de l'Île de Montréal

This Sunday, for the 35th edition of Tour de l’Île de Montréal, participants will be treated to a sing-along start with Émile Bilodeau and guests, Lou-Adriane Cassidy and Jérôme 50. Together, they will revisit a classic of the Quebec repertoire, Félix Leclerc's Le tour de l'Île! Also on the program: a 50 km tour of the musical theme terminals, and at the finish site, the performance of Montréal Complètement Cirque and a Local BBQ, starting at 11 a.m., at La Terrasse Recettes d'ici.

 

  • Departure in song with Émile Bilodeau: 9:15 a.m., avenue du Parc
  • Arrival: Parc Jeanne-Mance
  • Choice of routes: 50 or 25 km / 50 km Express / 100 or 65 km Discovery
