Starting line for Tour de l’Île de Montréal, Sunday, June 3: Émile Bilodeau takes to the stage in song!

Montreal, Saturday, June 2, 2018 - This Sunday morning, June 3, media representatives are invited to the starting line of the Tour de l’Île de Montréal, located on avenue du Parc, at the corner of avenue du Mont-Royal. On this occasion, they'll be treated to a sing-along with the popular Émile Bilodeau, a 50-kilometre route thematic terminals, a Local BBQ and a performance by Montréal Complètement Cirque at the finish site, Parc Jeanne-Mance.

On Sunday June 3, the Tour de l’Île de Montréal, with its 25,000 cyclists, will also be the occasion to celebrate the very first World Bicycle Day, proclaimed by the United Nations!

IMPORTANT There are several rounds on the Tour de l’Île de Montréal day. There are two different starts. The most spectacular, with thousands of cyclists, is at 9.15 am.

Starting at 7 a.m.: On-site interview opportunities

Ms. Joëlle Sévigny, general manager of Vélo Québec Évènements et Voyages, and Mr. Émile Bilodeau (starting at 8 a.m.), spokespersons for the Go vélo Montréal Festival, are available at the start line for interviews. Media are also invited to circulate and conduct spontaneous interviews among the participants. cyclists waiting to leave and public figures present.

7 a.m. to 9:15 a.m. - Start of the 65-100 Km Discovery race

It's an early morning start that will take more than two hours. Cyclists ride in line, in compliance with road safety regulations for streets open to motorized traffic.

9 a.m. - Departure ceremony and speeches

The master of ceremonies will speak on the podium at the start line with :

  • M. Hadrien Parizeau, city councillor, St-Sulpice district, Ahuntsic-Cartierville borough and associate councillor on the executive committee for youth, sports and recreation
  • M. Bruno Letendre, President, Les Producteurs de lait du Québec;
  • M. Geoffrey Kelley, MNA for Jacques-Cartier, Minister responsible for Aboriginal Affairs
  • M. Émile Bilodeau, singer-songwriter and cyclist, spokesperson for the Go vélo Montréal Festival.
9:15am - Start of the "Tour de l'île en chansons" (25km, 50km and 50km Express)

In 2018, Vélo Québec is pleased to welcome Émile Bilodeau as the new spokesperson for the Festival Go vélo Montréal. Accompanied by his musicians, he will kick off the Tour de l'Île en chansons at 9:15 am.

A gondola will be available for cameramen and photographers from 8.15 am. At the start, only cameramen will have access to the gondolas. Photographers will be able to use them afterwards. Microwave truck technicians must contact the Tour de l’Île de Montréal sound technician to avoid any interference in signal frequencies.

11 a.m. to 4 p.m. - Arrival of participants and entertainment at the finish site

At Parc Jeanne-Mance, starting at noon, MONTRÉAL COMPLÈTEMENT CIRQUE will enliven the finish site of the Tour de l’Île de Montréal. On the program: participatory activities for young and old, and circus performances throughout the day.
