This Sunday, June 4, the Go vélo Montréal Festival invites media representatives to the start of the Tour de l’Île de Montréal!

Montreal, June 2, 2023 - This Sunday, June 4, media representatives are invited to the start of the 38e Tour de l’Île de Montréal, to be held at Maisonneuve Park, at the corner of boulevard Rosemont and 26e avenue.

** IMPORTANT access for microwave trucks and media parking will be possible BEFORE 8:15 a.m. **

From 6 a.m. - SPONTANEOUS MEETING OPPORTUNITIES ON THE STARTING LINE

Jean-François Rheault, President and CEO of Vélo Québec, and Julie Ringuette, actress, host and spokesperson for the Festival Go vélo Montréal (from 8 a.m.), will be available for interviews. The media are also invited to circulate and do spontaneous interviews among the cyclists waiting to leave, as well as with the public personalities present (see list below).

NOTE Tour de l’Île de Montréal: as there are several courses at Tour de l’Île de Montréal, there will be two starts. The most spectacular, with thousands of cyclists, will be at 9.15 am.

Between 7 a.m. and 9 a.m. - START OF TOUR DE L'ÎLE DÉCOUVERTE (50 to 100 KM)

It's an early morning start that will last more than two hours. Cyclists will ride in line, as prescribed by the Highway Safety Code, on streets open to vehicular traffic.

8:55 a.m. - DEPARTURE CEREMONY

The master of ceremonies will welcome the guests:

  • Mrs Ana-Maria Martin, 1st Vice-President, Les Producteurs de lait de Montérégie-Ouest;
  • Mr. Michel Cantin, Vice-President, Development and Partnerships, Western Quebec, Desjardins Group;
  • Ms. Caroline Proulx, Minister of Tourism;
  • Mrs. Marianne Giguère, Ville de Montréal Councillor, Associate Councillor for Active Transportation
  • Ms Sarah Justine Leduc-Villeneuve, Director, Destination Development and Programs, Tourisme Montréal
  • Mr. Steven Guilbault, Minister of the Environment and Climate Change and MP for Laurier-Sainte-Marie;
  • Mr. Jean-François Rheault, President and CEO, Vélo Québec;
  • Ms. Julie Ringuette, actress, host and spokesperson for the Go vélo Montréal Festival.

9 h 15 - OFFICIAL START OF THE TOUR DE L'ÎLE (Departure will be staggered until about 10:45 a.m.)

A gondola will be available for media representatives from 8.30 am. At the start, only cameramen will have access to the gondolas. Photographers will be able to use them afterwards. Microwave truck technicians must contact the Tour de l’Île de Montréal sound technician to avoid any interference in signal frequencies.

11 a.m. to 4 p.m. - ARRIVAL OF PARTICIPANTS and ANIMATION AT THE ARRIVAL SITE

4 p.m. - END OF ACTIVITIES
