Montreal, Friday, April 3, 2020 - Like all other events and festivals in the province, Vélo Québec is closely monitoring developments related to COVID-19. Due to the current climate of uncertainty and considering the time required to complete final preparations for its events scheduled for May-June, Vélo Québec is cancelling the following events:
- Visit Go vélo Montréal Festival - including Tour de l’Île de Montréal, Tour la Nuit, Défi métropolitain, bike-to-work activities and others - scheduled from May 31 to June 7, 2020.
- Visit Challenge Vélo Mag, scheduled for Saturday June 20, 2020 in Montérégie.
« Despite the challenges, we believe that postponing these events is in line with the latest government guidelines and in the interest and safety of all participants, volunteers, employees and partners. All registrants to any of our events will receive an email communication informing them that their registration will be automatically transferred to the same event in the 2021 edition unless they wish to be reimbursed. Although the dates for 2021 are preliminary, we are working on a schedule that would see the Festival Go vélo Montréal held from May 30 to June 6, 2021. », says Suzanne Lareau, President and CEO of Vélo Québec.
« Vélo Québec continues to evaluate different scenarios for its events later in the season. In this regard, we will communicate any new announcements as decisions are made. »she adds.
