In many municipalities, the 311 service is the gateway for citizens wishing to request information, make a request, complain or comment on a municipal government service. Several Quebec cities have such a platform (Laval, Gatineau, Montreal, Quebec City, Trois-Rivières, Longueuil, etc.).
Don't hesitate to use this service to notify your municipal administration:
The advantage of using your municipality's 311 service is that you'll have a record of all requests, so you can follow up as appropriate. If 311 service is not available in your municipality, you can contact your municipality's resident or citizen services department. The procedure is the same as that described above, but since you won't necessarily have a follow-up number for your request, we recommend that you note the date of your call and the name of the person you spoke to.
Public consultations are an interesting way of reminding people of the importance of making room for active transportation and mountain biking. Whether it's for a project to modernize a street, artery, park or public square in your municipality, or for a citizen participation exercise, it's possible to give your opinion. By taking part in the process or submitting a short brief, you can remind public decision-makers of the need to plan with cycling in mind.
A memoir doesn't have to have a lot of pages to be relevant. It can simply be formulated in the form of comments. However, some citizens or citizens' groups have submitted larger memories quality. In this case, strength in numbers is important! It may therefore be worth forming a citizen's committee or association (see this section) to bring together active transportation or mountain bike enthusiasts and pool your forces!
Pssst... You can also draw your arguments from the various memories that we have published and deposited over the years.
