There is 4.2 million cyclists in Québec: 3.2 million adults and 1 million youth. Amongst the adults, 55% are male and 45% are female.
  Share Each week, adults cycle an average of 3.3 hours and 43 km and youth cycle an average of 4 hours.
  Share 2.7 million Quebecers cycle every week.
  Share In Québec, 51% of trips are made on bikeways. Québec's cycling network has 12,000km of bikeways, a 30% increase since 2010.
  Share 1.9 million Quebecers cycle as a means of transportation. In Montréal, there has been an 57% increase between 2008 and 2013.
  Share Cycling generates a 150 million dollars annual revenue for the Québec government, and 1.6 million overnight stays.
  Share The value of Cycling in Québec is 2.6 billion dollars (based on WHO/HEAT figures).

DETAILED RESULTS

The data used for this fifth edition of the study came from a variety of sources:

• A province-wide survey on cycling in Québec conducted by the Léger polling firm in the fall of 2015 and analyzed by André Poirier, a professor in the Département de techniques de recherche sociale at Collège de Rosemont.

• Analyses of origin-destination study data for several Québec cities performed by the Chaire de recherche Mobilité at Polytechnique Montréal.

• A study of the economic benefits of cycling by the Transat Chair in Tourism at the Université du Québec à Montréal.
