Report on the Go vélo Montréal 2025 Festival

June 1, 2025

Montréal, Sunday, June 1, 2025 - The 2025 edition of the Go vélo Montréal Festival officially came to an end, as the last Tour de l’Île de Montréal participants crossed the finish line at Maisonneuve Park.

Highlights

The Festival kicked off on May 25 with the Défi métropolitain. From Brossard, nearly 2900 cyclists took part in the 23e edition of the event. They took to the roads of the splendid Montérégie region, marking the first major cycling event of the season.

As part of this 2025 edition, Vélo Québec was honoured to welcome Anna Zivarts as guest speaker. She gave a powerful talk entitled «When driving is not an option: how to free yourself from car dependency». Her talk provided essential food for thought on the issues of accessibility and inclusion in transportation.

On May 30, after a convivial and unifying 6@8 in Maisonneuve Park, over 17,000 cyclists took part in Tour la Nuit, a 21 km ride along the illuminated streets of Montreal.

The Festival closed on 1er June with the 40e edition of the legendary Tour de l’Île de Montréal, which brought together over 18,000 cyclists. «It was a highly symbolic event, marking four decades of celebrating cycling culture. We're extremely grateful to all the cyclists who have put their trust in us, year after year, for the past 40 years,» says Jean-François Rheault, President and CEO of Vélo Québec.

«What great energy for this 2025 edition of the Go vélo Montréal Festival! Desjardins is proud to have pedaled alongside thousands of enthusiasts to celebrate urban cycling and encourage an active, sustainable lifestyle. We warmly thank all the volunteers for their commitment and congratulate all the cyclists for their ambition and determination,» said Isabelle Garon, Senior Vice-President, Marketing, Communications, Cooperation and President's Office, Desjardins Group.

Many thanks

The dedication, energy and smiles of our 1700 volunteers (affectionately known as bénévélos) made this edition unforgettable for all participants. A huge thank you to each and every one of them.

We would also like to express our deepest gratitude to our partners, our spokesperson Julie Ringuette, the thousands of cyclists who join in this adventure year after year, and to the citizens and shopkeepers of the neighborhoods we pass through for their warm welcome.

This year, close to 40,000 cyclists, volunteers and partners joined forces to make this great cycling festival a success, creating a collective momentum that makes Montreal shine. We are sincerely grateful.

See you in 2026

The Festival Go vélo Montréal will be back in 2026. We can't wait to see you there!
