Quebec Trail Planners Conference

For its fourth edition, the Quebec Trail Planners Conference will be held in Sutton from October 2 to 4, 2026.

Presented by Sutton Outdoor Activities in collaboration with Mountain Biking in the Eastern Townships, Dig it, Trailbuilders and Vélo Québec, the conference invites the community to come together for three days around a common goal: sharing knowledge to develop trails that are more sustainable, more cohesive, and better suited to both the environment and trail users.

Whether you’re working in the field, in management, in planning, as a guide, or providing project support, your experience has a place in this collective discussion on trail development and maintenance in Quebec.

The Quebec Trail Planners Conference is an opportunity to take a step back and reflect on current practices, share real-world experiences, exchange expertise, and leave with concrete tools to move projects forward.

On the agenda: engaging discussions, inspiring talks, peer-to-peer exchanges, and hands-on workshops led by experts. An autumn event to learn, contribute, connect with the community, and drive change in how things are done.

Formation V4 — Designer et construire des sentiers de vélo de montagne

Before the conference, Vélo Québec is offering a training day to reinforce the basics and ensure that participants are on the same page throughout the weekend.

This course covers the essential principles of designing and building sustainable trails: reading the terrain, choosing the alignment, managing speed, drainage, flow, stabilization, turns, obstacles, and integrating trails into their surroundings.

Lectures, discussions, and hands-on workshops

Starting at 9 a.m., the conference gets down to business with a day dedicated to current issues in trail development, maintenance, and management.

This event will provide an opportunity to share expertise, discuss real-world experiences on the ground, and explore concrete solutions to support networks that are more sustainable, better structured, and better suited to the needs of local communities.
